Position Summary:
The DataDirect Networks Technology Center has an immediate need for a Software Development Engineer to develop real time application software in Embedded Linux for a RAID device.

Position Functions:
As a member of the Research and Development Team in Columbia, MD, the Entry-level Software Engineer will have the following responsibilities and experience:
Responsibilities:
  • Develop firmware/embedded test software for DataDirect's S2A product family. The Engineer will be tasked to create test suite for current and new products.
  • Document current and future designs, participation in code inspections, integration and development test.
  • Develop new features and requirements for S2A product family.
  • Learn to setup/manage storage systems on multiple operating system platforms including AIX, IRIX, Windows, Solaris and Linux.
Experience and educational requirements:
  • B.S. Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Low-level firmware development using C programming and assembly for various microprocessors
  • Ability to assist hardware team with debug process
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
Preferred Requirements:
  • Experience with Real Time Embedded System Design and VxWorks Real Time Operating System
  • Knowledge of RAID, SCSI, Fibre Channel and PCI
  • Familiarity with Linux
