Position Summary

DataDirect Networks Federal, LLC, with Corporate offices in Chatsworth, CA, leader in Storage Area Networks and Clusters, is seeking a motivated post-sales Field Application Engineer to travel to customer locations in the Washington, DC and surrounding areas. Travel outside of this area is likely. A top secret clearance is preferred.

The primary focus of the position will be to perform installations of SAN appliances and maintain storage solutions at customer locations. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work in high-stress, fast paced customer environments. And, who can also take technical support calls during the non-travel periods. In addition, and only when needed, provide technical assistance to Sales at pre-sales customer meetings.

Position Functions

This position requires:

 

  • installing, troubleshooting, and repairing disk storage systems, RAID controllers, software, drivers and servers, Fibre Channel products including switches, hubs, host bus adapters, and the associated interconnections. There is also network involvement. Linux experience, strong trouble shooting skills and *nix knowledge are a must.
  • The normal schedule could include traveling up to 50% during the month. The position requires the ability to lift and carry a 50 lb. weight, reach above shoulder level, bend, and kneel. Travel by air is a requirement as well as travel by car. Therefore, a valid driver's license is required.

Education, Skills and Experience

 

  • An AA or BS degree is preferred with one to five years related (computer field) work experience.
  • Education or previous experience in Linux is a MUST.
  • Education or previous experience in AIX, IRIX, Solaris and Windows operating systems, as well as, networking is desired.
  • The successful candidate must be a quick learner who can retain new technical concepts and skill sets.
