S2A Storage Systems are powered by an intelligent storage appliance that simplifies and accelerates the storage network through the integration of key functions previously found in multiple network elements and software components.  The S2A appliance incorporates network switching, storage virtualization, data protection algorithms, caching, and disk-level management into a single high performance unit.  This approach vastly simplifies the storage infrastructure, lowers the total cost of ownership and improves performance and reliability

Unlike traditional storage systems based on architectures for handling many small files, the S2A appliance has been specifically designed to process and store large data files that place unique demands on the storage network for bandwidth and capacity.

Our architecture is open and can interoperate with virtually any file system, host operating system and storage application, allowing our customers to choose best-of-breed hardware and software solutions for their unique storage environment and application requirements.


The newest storage system, the 8th generation S2A9900 is engineered to enable high-performance, high-capacity network storage. Delivering up to 6 GB/s to high-performance applications and scaling to 1.2PB in a single storage system, the S2A9900 provides optimal block-level and file system quality of performance for highly scalable, open-system computing environments.

DirectRAID

DirectRaid's intelligent algorithms, leverage the system’s architecture to completely streamline and parallelize the data path. This results in high-speed, real-time data transfers and on-the-fly parity calculations.

S2A hardware-accelerated DirectRAID technology enables overall storage consolidation while reducing system costs… scaling storage performance beyond traditional limits.

 
SATAssurePlus

SATAssure enables the S2A to manage very large pools of SATA storage while maintaining enterprise-class performance, reliability and data integrity. SATAssure validates the integrity of data on every read operation to protect against corruption that is left unchecked by SATA drives. When such corruption is detected, SATAssure is self -healing and repairs the data on-the-fly so that the host computers receive the correct information, and then repairs the faulty data on the drive.


 
S2A Storage Virtualization

The S2A appliance contains multiple host ports and natively allows full access to the storage pool from any of them.  When restricted access is desired, S2A Storage Virtualization allows the common data pool to be divided, and provides multiple levels of security and access control to each portion of the storage pool.
